Hiring a photographer to shoot your wedding is a big decision. Book the right one and you’ll be looking back on your special day time and again with fond memories of you two in love. It can be a wonderful investment that pays you back for decades. Hire a hack - and you’ll be stuck thinking What Might Have Been, or even worse, not looking back at all, because the photographer didn’t take the necessary precautions to make certain your day goes without a hitch. Here are four promises I make to you, and every couple that hires me.

1.     Ten-day turnaround! Yes, it’s possible, and no, you shouldn’t be waiting three months for you to see your wedding photos.  If you’re waiting for three months which is the standard turnaround time for most photographers, then that photographer is a mix of disorganized, isn’t working hard,  doesn’t organize their time well enough, etc. Their sitting on their behinds not focused enough on editing. 10 days is a reasonable amount of time to go through photos provided that it gets started with urgency and professionalism. Urgency because you just had the most spectacular, special day of your life and you’d really prefer those photos sooner rather than later. And professionalism because,  pictures do need careful attention which does take some time. However, ten days is enough.

2.     I back-up all my photos on three separate hard drives, as well as an online cloud service. And keep them for a total of two years minimum. If anything goes badly on your end, you can be rest assured I have a separate folder for you to give you some peace of mind. No need to ask yourself “What happened to that USB drive with all my wedding photos?” I got you, and I can send you another one free or charge.

3.     I have an excellent back-up photographer, god forbid anything

Happens. This is only relevant in the case of an emergency, but its super-important to have someone I can rely on in a worst-case scenario.

4.     Dual-card memory slots. Not every photographer has the camera capable to shoot with two slots, and even if they do, they don’t always shoot with two cards. Why is shooting dual important? Because it virtually eliminates the possibility of corrupted files.  Every once in a while files will go missing, or can’t be read, that renders them gone forever. So that first kiss you were hoping to look back on for years has vanished. Sounds like a nightmare right? Not with me. I shoot dual card slots so you have nothing to worry about.
